Getting ready for the storm!

Winter has struck Mid Missouri.

Everyone was out yesterday stocking up on essentials. Oldest daughter who does not cook, made a grocery run too. I went to the store two times.

I went to the store the first time after dinner with Company. I wanted to make a roast in the crock pot while the wind blew on Monday (prediciting to be -30 below wind chill).  I did not like the look of the roasts at the first store. I went a head and bought some sale items I thought I would need and decided when I drove home from the country I would stop at my local Hyvee.

I love Hyvee.

It looks like everyone else in town loved Hyvee.

This is what the shelf after shelf looked like at Hyvee.

Empty!

Good thing I bought my cheese at the other store.

I was able to get my roast and some hamburger. I bought bacon too. (you can never have too much bacon on hand).

Anywho, I think I am ready for the storm and the wicked wind and cold air coming our way.

Except, for bananas. Hyvee was out of bananas.

Go figure!

Stay inside, stay warm, watch really good movies and eat really good food!

Becky

  1. Trevor was off today but said is was insane at the store yesterday before the storm hit- that they did more business yesterday then on Christmas Eve! We couldn’t even get out of our street to get to Church this morning. When I email Tristian’s Catechism teacher to let her know he was snowed in she said he didn’t miss anything because there weren’t enough children to have normal classes. Trev has already called a co-worker to get him in the morning; as, our non four wheel drive cruiser barely even pretended to make an attempt to get up our street this morning =p

    • I was at Hyvee in the evening and the shelves were pretty bare! I wanted to take more pictures just because it looked so strange to have such empty shelves. I should have gone a little earlier and I might have gotten some bananas : ). I was reading your blog today. I do not know how you can get all the stuff done that you do! The Elf on the Shelf activity stuff you created was amazing! Becky

      • Aw, thank you for the compliment =) Some people are ocd about cleaning or organizing- for me it’s being prepared. I am not a preforms well under pressure kind of gal; so, I do as much as possible ahead. All the elf activities were prepped in November- just picked one out each night and implemented. Tristian’s work sheets for school are copied then organized by subject in chronological order in a binder the summer before school starts- drastically cuts down on prep during the school year (which was awful the first year). Most gifts (except perishables) are bought, logged and stored in totes months ahead- just pull out and wrap when needed… and so forth. I would be a nervous wreck otherwise and never get anything done =p

Not to mention that I am a stay at home mom, it would be impossible to do everything I do and work also. I’m glad I get to stay home though. Being a homemaker was not encouraged for my generation in school- and I wish it had been presented as an option a little more. I understand why it’s not- but I honestly can’t think of a single thing I would be better at doing then this right now =)

        • I am going to show my daughter all the cute stuff you came up with. I was a stay at home mom that did craft shows for years to earn a little extra money. I think being a stay at home mom is the most important job for your family!
